Paul has been singing & playing live since he first picked up a guitar at the age of 17 – too many years ago to reveal! He started writing solo material in the early 90s resulting in his first album in 2000 “The Red Room” – which, for the record, was entitled a long time before “50 Shades Of Grey.”
It was really well received with Paul’s voice described as “ a blend of George Michael. Paul Carrack & Daryl Hall” by press & radio.
This was then followed up a couple of years later with a second album “Fall From Grace” which took on a bit of a rockier feel, however, his love of ballads was still there with the tender “Feels Like Love” and the sweeping album closer of “While You Were Sleeping.”
After a break from music for a number of years, Paul then “got the passion back” for writing and in 2011 started work on some new songs reflecting his personal journey that resulted in 2013 release of “The Healing Pt.1” With all the songs written on his trusty acoustic guitar and including the highly personal “And Yet….” the EP was probably his most autobiographical work.
“The Healing Pt.2” followed in 2017 and included the huge blues rocker “Wait For The Healing” along with the gentle, acoustic guitar-driven “Flying”, a song about aching to be free from the chains of regret & sadness.
The trilogy was finished with the Oct 2019 release of “The Healing Pt.3” – a four-song work featuring the soulful exhortation “All About Love” and the Thunder/Bad Company inspired “Not Waitin’ Any Longer.”
In 2021, Paul released “Catch Fire” this eight-song album is generally considered his most accomplished work to date and reflected his life experience including a song about the passing of his mum and a lullaby for his first grandchild. The album gathered very positive reviews and is his most successful release to date.
Paul is currently working on his next release which has the working title “Change Your Mind” and already has four songs recorded, including the new single release “Can’t Stop Thinkin’ ‘Bout You Baby” out on April 26th 2023.
